1st place of the public architectural competition
This simple, plain building is primarily focused at pupils and their teachers, while being open enough to serve the whole local community. It will become one of the focal points of the community, a space open to sharing and dialogue.
With its compactness, the building offers a low-cost solution in terms of operation and investment. At the same time, it is a forward-looking concept that allows flexibility to develop different approaches to pedagogy. The material layout is based on the morphology of the terrain, extending the natural character of the site and offering a random passer-by a space to rest next to an important municipality building.
At the heart of the building is a light-filled atrium, which includes variable spaces that provide facilities for various forms of alternative schooling as well as for collaborative play and gathering during breaks.
