The Mayer's Factory building is located in an attractive location close to the historical centre of the town, on the square Náměstí Republiky, dominated by the Gothic church of St. John the Baptist. We are making the block of the former factory accessible, redefining the eastern side of the square and revitalising the resulting space in the courtyard, which is protected from car traffic from the adjacent streets. By linking it to the library, we are creating a multifunctional cultural complex that will bring new life to this part of the centre.

At the epicentre of this area, we are restoring a high-rise landmark – a tower with a view, which complements the local landmarks of the church tower and the Šindelářská tower located in the immediate vicinity.

We are proposing a new separate building for a multi-purpose hall and a puppet theatre. We were inspired by the history of the site, which is closely linked to the textile industry. We have combined the glorious history of textile printing with an element of the theatre curtain (borrowed from the cultural area for which the building will be designed) and wrapped the proposed new cultural centre in this fabric.

The new pedestrian public space in the courtyard of the factory is defined by three institutions that open into this "square", thus exploiting its full potential.
